Orkney and Shetland MP, Alistair Carmichael, has welcomed news that a launch provider, ABL, has been selected for Lockheed Martin’s planned partnership with the Shetland Space Centre.
Mr Carmichael said:
“This is welcome news and continues the series of commercial organisations showing their confidence in the Shetland Space Centre. They are the people qualified to “pick winners”, not politicians or officials.
“Another vote of confidence in the project means another step towards a new source of jobs for the isles – reassurance in a disruptive period for us all.
“I hope that Scottish ministers will welcome this announcement and that all the different space projects in Scotland will be treated with equal fairness in the future.”
