"Bizarre incoherence" on Northern Ireland - Carmichael

Responding to contradictory reports between the Government and the Prime Minister on the status of check and controls between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK, Liberal Democrat candidate for Orkney and Shetland, Alistair Carmichael, has condemned the "bizarre incoherence" of Boris Johnson's position. The Prime Minister has denied that there will be checks in the Irish Sea, despite saying previously that some checks would be needed. Noting that leading Scottish Conservatives have said that any special status for Northern Ireland would undermine the integrity of the United Kingdom, Mr. Carmichael argued that the situation was unsustainable.
